Know part of the mountain bike

This time we expected to find more in-depth critical parts of our bikes with the goal if there is a problem on one of the components that we can know with detail the cause and maybe even improve it.

Handle Bars
Better known by the steering handlebar, in MTB have some type of Monkey Bar, Rise bar and standard bar. Handle Bar is the cockpit of our bikes, gear control transmission, front-rear brake on the handlebar was there. Select a handle bar that suits your needs.

Top Tube
It is part of a bicycle frame top, Tip: Adjust the size of the frame with your body

Down Tube
It is part of a bicycle frame, melitang from the headset is connected directly to the top Tube Seat, Stay and House BB (buttom Bracket)

Shifter
Grupsets (component) transmission gear shifting, serves to drive the FD (front therear derailleur) and RD (rear therear derailleur), Shifter in the market for the propulsion RD achieve 90-10 speed, for Shifter FD usually consists only 2-3 speed.

Handgrip
Is the wrapping Handlebar (handlebar steering) made from rubber / tape depending on needs. Try handgrip on the handlebar does not turn when we drive, lever that is too thick or too thin, reduce our comfort in cycling.

Brake Lever
Brake levers (front-rear) Brake positioned correctly laver kenyamaan adjust with you when biking, keep your fingers can easily reach the liver (a lever).

Headset
The front of the frame in which there are bearings and other components used to connect Fork (suspension) front with a stem and handlebar.

Stem
Is part of our bicycle cockpit, serves to connect the handle bars - Headset and Fork (suspension) front. Stem is available in several sizes for the front suspension a long (long travel) stem form is different from the standard stem, Tip: if you feel your stem is too long and we seem bent cycling you can replace it with a short stem size.

Sadle
Saddle - the driver's seat, to bicycle MTB size is usually much thicker than the roadbike. Set Saddle position so perfectly straight (horizontal), set forward and pullback Sandel try not too far or too close to hadle bar.
Tip: Position will lead to inappropriate kitika uncomfortable cycling in serious cases result in injury waist.

SeatPost
Saddle holder (sadle) liaison between the saddle with a bicycle frame, adjust the vertical position with your comfort. Tip: Try riding a bike at the stop position, straighten your legs until benar2 reach the pedals. If your feet are still seen and felt still was not straight when the pedal position is below this is a sign that your seatpost is not high enough. Arrange seatpost to really fit your needs.

Seat Stay
Represents the rear frame. For dual-suspension MTB Seat Stay usually swingarms (swing arm) connected to the frame using the rear suspension.

Pedals
Strokes. Is a component of the Bracket and Crankset play buttom so that bikes can move (movable when we pedaled a bicycle).

Crank Set
Components of the arm that connects pedals with chainrings.

Chain Ring
Is the transmission component of the front teeth (usually consisting of 2 -3 Chain Rings). Serves to connect the chain with Crankset.

Chain
Chain. Is a vital component of its function because it is in charge of connecting the components Crankset Chain Ring with rear wheels, so the bike can be rode.

Idler Pulley
Rear part of therear derailleur (RD), a gear (teeth) with small tension (usually a per-spring) which serves to chain (chain) tetep straight and not loose.

Front therear derailleur
Is a vital component in MTB bike, front tooth removal function set (chain rings). Better known as FD, is connected directly with the Shifter.

Rear therear derailleur
Is a vital component in MTB bike, set the transfer function back teeth. Better known as RD, is connected directly with the Shifter.

Rims
Wheelset component (wheel) is more in doubt familiar with (rim) bike.

Tire
Tires. Made of rubber, Tip: adjust your tire size and type with your needs. Tire size for the type of pavement (road) is usually a small footprint and standard motifs. For someone like offroad or even choose the type of downhill tires with special tread pattern full width and offroad.

Front Fork
Front suspension, is part of a bicycle that serves to connect the wheel (whellset) front wheel (handlebar). Fork on the market available various types, brands and sizes. Tip: adjust the type and size of the fork with your needs, to use the asphalt field with a long travel fork standard, while for fans of downhill usually use a long travel.

Master Dishbrake
Brake component (brake), is home to brake. This component serves to clamp dishbrake when we do the braking.
For conventional Brake type (V-brake) there is no function of this component is replaced by brakepad.

DishBrake
Discs, a disc wheelset is connected directly to either the front or rear. For this type of V-brake this component does not exist.

Spokes
Wheel radius, connecting the hub with rims (obviously).

Hub
Located in the middle is where the radius of the wheels and rims (obviously) connected. Components in which there bearing (buckshot).

So simple tips to know the anatomy of mountain bikes, armed with this we are becoming more knowing the various components that exist on our mountain bikes. Happy cycling,

Mountain Bike Ride Risky Hobbies Spinal Injury?

Canada. High speed, vertical path of extreme terrain and the length may make the exercise bike mountain biker mountain aka more risky than football, diving or cheerleading. More mountain bike riders at risk of spinal disorders. These findings warn that using two-wheel vehicle on a dangerous path that is very risky in the spine. One of the six cases considered serious enough to cause severe paralysis.

"People need to know that mountain biking activities they choose to have unique and specific risks," said Dr. Marcel Dvorak, from the University of British Columbia in Canada, as reported from Health24, Tuesday (06/08/2010).  Previous research has explained about the various injuries suffered by mountain bike riders. But nobody ever evaluate the specific risk of spinal injuries in mountain bikers. Patients average age was 33 years old, out of whom only two riders who do it for recreational purposes. These findings have been reported in the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

The research team could not calculate the risk of injury to the spine of the mountain bikers. But the researchers speculate that during the study period 13 years, showed an annual rate of 500,000 events in British Columbia. Amounting to four percent of patients had spinal cord injuries. Two-thirds of the mountain bikers require surgery. Even 40 percent of the worst injuries, ie spinal cord injury. And of that number, more than 40 percent of total paralysis. "Broken wrists and face is the most common. But more severe spinal cord injury, with long-term consequences of a deeper," Dvorak added.

According to him, most cyclists suffered injuries due to losing control of bicycle handlebars or precipitous fall from the heights of the GCC. Of the two cases, often resulting in serious impacts that trigger the head trauma in the neck and spine.

Surprisingly, researchers found no association between wearing helmets and injury severity experienced bikers. "Helmets can prevent injury to the head, but it can not protect your neck," said Dvorak. Moreover, this unique exercise conducted in the field is really difficult to reach by medical personnel, such as in the jungle or remote mountain areas.  Consequently when the accident occurred, an ambulance or even helicopter would be difficult to access areas that require a long time to be able to help these bikers.

5 Mountain Bike Categories Based On Function

a. Cross Country (XC)
Designed for mild to moderate cross country. Designed for optimum efficiency and when pedaling uphill on a paved road and dirt road to the countryside. It is highly recommended for beginners who want to start playing MTB.

b. All mountain (AM)
Designed for cross country as heavy as up and down hills, into the forest, across rocky terrain, and to explore long distance offroad terrain. The advantage there is an all mountain durability and comfort for driving. But less efficiently used in the field a long and steep climbs. Almost all bike full-suspension-type AM.

c. Freeride (FR)
Designed to be able to survive the drop off (jump) high and similar extreme conditions. Bodinya strong but not as fast and nimble as mountain because of all the heavier weight. Less suitable for long distance and so is not suitable for the ascent.

d. Downhill (DH)
Designed to be able to drive fast, safe and comfortable in the down hills and mountains. Capable with stable cornering at high speeds and are always equipped rear suspension to dampen conflict that often occurs. DH does not give priority to comfort bicycle pedal because only used to go down the mountain. Downhill bike also refers more to race, so that is the press in its design is so strong but how can advance quickly. To reach that location, the downhiller but not pedaling their bicycles transported by car. Not efficiently used in urban and cross-country route.

e. Dirtjump (DJ)
Other names are or urban MTB trial. This type of bike was originally designed for urban youth who use mountain bikes as a means of transportation besides, speeding on city streets, is also used to perform high jumps and extreme attraction. Its function is similar to BMX but with an enlarged form.
